Song of the Day: Lorde – Take Me To The River

Lorde’s cover of ‘Take Me To The River’ is the new excerpt from A24 Music’s curated compilation, ‘Everyone’s Getting Involved: A Tribute to Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense’, celebrating 40 years and the re-release of the Talking Heads’ iconic 1984 concert film ‘Stop Making Sense’, directed by Jonathan Demme.
Lorde’s contribution to the collection is unique considering that ‘Take Me To The River’ is itself a cover of a song first written and released by the legendary Al Green in 1974. The 1978 version by Talking Heads became a TOP40 hit on American soil. Lorde lent her classy touch to the song, wrapping its indelible bass-driven melody in bubbling synth arpeggios and percussive hits.

A24 Music, the recording arm of the famous American independent film production company, produced the compilation ‘Everyone’s Getting Involved: A Tribute to Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense’ as a celebration of the recent re-release of the iconic live album and concert film ‘Stop Making Sense’, directed 40 years ago by Jonathan Demme.

The album will feature the same setlist as the live album ‘Stop Making Sense’, 16 performers grappling with Talking Heads classics will bring a new generation of listeners to the cult of the famous New York band. This Is Pop? today’s song of the day is here for you.
