Puerto Rican duo Buscabulla have released their new single ’11:11′ on Domino. It is the group’s first original song since their 2020 debut album Regresa.
Taking rhythmic inspiration from merengue and other Caribbean genres, Buscabulla co-founders Raquel Berrios and Luis Del Valle convey the dynamic energy of their live shows through ’11:11′. The song was inspired by the music Berrios and Del Valle would hear playing on the stereo from their mothers while they were cleaning the house during their childhood.
“11:11” is accompanied by an official video directed by Jorge (Fish) Rodriguez. The video features a woman in the midst of an existential crisis, overwhelmed by her perpetually dirty house. The clock keeps ticking as she dances and rubs frantically trying to free herself from this repetitive and mundane task, in a way waiting for a miracle. 11:11 is the sign of the universe telling you that ‘life is too short’ and that you must take the spiritual reins of your life into your own hands by purging yourself of dirty and unproductive thoughts. This Is Pop? today’s song of the day is here for you.
