Toro y Moi – Tuesday

The new album by the American musician and producer, born Chazwick Bradley Bundlick, comes two years after his previous album ‘Mahal’, his debut for Dead Oceans and eighth under the name Toro Y Moi. The album, recorded between 2023 and 2024, featured several guests, including Ben Gibbard (Death Cab for Cutie, The Postal Service), Kevin Abstract (Brokhampton), Porches and Glaive. The title of the new album pays homage to the counterculture magazine ‘Whole Earth Catalog’ active in the late 60s and 90s.

While Toro y Moi has long built a reputation for reinventing itself from one body of work to the next, ‘Hole Erth’ may represent its boldest musical pivot to date. The album synthesises pop-punk anthems and melancholic rap in a modern and original style that is consistent in the American artist’s history of continuous sonic research.

‘Hole Erth’ is a reflection of the history and mind of Toro y Moi, a.k.a. total artist Chaz Bear, from his childhood immersion in emo-school punk, to his near past of working as a producer for some of the biggest names in the contemporary hip-hop scene.
