Memorials – Book Stall

‘Memorial Waterslides’, Memorials’ debut after their soundtracks for the documentaries “Tramps!” and “Women Against the Bomb”, is a timeless otherworldly and surrealist pop record, a rare mix of classic writing and avant-garde attitude.

With their playful and experimental style, combined with their love of good music, Memorials follow in the glorious vein of bands and artists such as Broadcast, Portishead, Arthur Russell, The Velvet Underground, Yo La Tengo and Tortoise, not forgetting Stereolab.

The album is full of images that evoke a lost future, a veiled present and a daydreamed past, each song playing a role in creating a swirling, widescreen atmosphere, the listener is taken along for the ride. Produced entirely by the duo, the sound of the record was inspired by the reel-to-reel tape experiments they conducted when they started developing their multi-layer recordings for live duo performances. Enjoy ‘Book Stall’: This Is Pop? today’s song of the day is here for you.
