Cleopatrick – Hammer

The Canadian alternative rock duo has announced the release of a new album in 2025. The Toronto duo’s new single is a first taste of their second album due out in 2025. The track comes just days before the start of a sold-out tour that will see them play Los Angeles, New York and London, during which they will premiere tracks from the new album, as well as play classics from ‘Bummer’ and the ‘Doom’ EP.

‘Hammer’ sees the two childhood friends embarking on a new musical journey, recorded with producer Philip Weinrobe (Adrianne Lenker and Hand Habits above all) in his Brooklyn studio, the sessions mark the first time the band have expanded their existing creative bubble, helping to drive the growth of their sonic palette and songwriting.

Speaking of ‘Hammer’, Gruntz notes: “This song is about being punched by the big guy. Like being completely flattened. it’s about the act of not only accepting your defeat, but truly embracing it. Welcoming the cosmic hammer as it comes down on your head. Of course, directing your aim in the name of courtesy and efficiency. Facilitating the swift destruction of your sovereign impulse, so that the higher powers can proceed more swiftly whatever the next phase of their all-important plan may be. It is not for you to understand much more: in fact, you should not ask these kinds of questions: just accept!”
