Fontaines Dc – It’s Amazing To Be Young

2024 was a defining year for Dubliners Fontaines Dc, whose fourth album Romance was acclaimed as one of the year’s best, cementing their status as one of the most exciting bands in contemporary music. Romance was certified gold in the UK and saw the band nominated for two Grammys and a Brit Award; a celebration of Fontaines Dc’s ambitious growth and musical evolution.

Fontaines Dc launch into 2025 with the new single “It’s Amazing To Be Young.” Produced by ROMANCE album producer James Ford himself, the Fontaines Dc track is set to soundtrack a big year of concerts for the band. The single is accompanied by a video made by Bafta-winning director Luna Carmoon (Hoard, Shagbands), previously director of the videos for “Here’s The Thing” and “In The Modern World.” “It’s Amazing To Be Young” completes the film trilogy, bringing together Martin from ‘In The Modern World’ (Ewan Mitchell) and Spider from ‘Here’s The Thing’ (Grace Collender) in a wonderfully surreal love story.

Speaking about the song, Conor Deegan III says, “It’s Amazing To Be Young is a song that was written in the presence of an infant, Carlos’ daughter. At first it sounded more like a lullaby or a music box, but with the same lyrics, ‘It’s Amazing To Be Young.’ The feeling of hope that a baby can give is deep and moving, especially for young people like us. The desire to create a world in which we can grow up happily is a feeling that fights cynicism, which can often overwhelm us in the modern world. So we wanted to declare where we stood: it is truly amazing to be young. We are still free and we want to spread this feeling. We want to protect it for others around us, and perhaps by doing so, we can help protect it for ourselves as well.”
