100% Wet unveiled their latest single, “Leave It”, a boomy breakbeat-infused dreampop track that fuses shoegaze and drum’n’bass, and emotionally charged songwriting – what they describe as “hypergaze”. Alongside the release of “Leave It”, 100%WET also share details of their eponymous debut album, set to land May 16th on Crunchy Frog Recordings.
The dreamy, soft vocals of collaborator Amalie Hannibal Petri float above a dynamic mix of phaser-laden, grunge-tinged riffs and persistent drones. As the song reaches its conclusion, a vaporwave-inspired down-pitching effect warps the sound, mirroring the emotional shift of letting go.
Lyrically, “Leave It” is a sonic exorcism of emotions that no longer serve. While nostalgia lingers in its melodies, the song ultimately pulses forward, carrying with it a sense of renewal and clarity.
“This track plays with contrast,” explain Jakob Birch and Casper Munns, the creative force behind 100%WET. “It’s nostalgic, but also about moving on. The groove feels loose and baggy, but the production is sharp and intentional. That kind of push and pull – between past and future, chaos and control – is a huge part of what excites us musically.”
