Durry are brothers Austin and Taryn Durry, known for their powerful mix of indie-rock, melodic punk, and alternative in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
‘This Movie Sucks,’ Durry’s second work, was produced by Phil Odom (Code Orange, Turnover, Say Anything) and has something for everyone. The sound is extremely varied, in line with what the duo has done in the past, extending it more than ever. With a strong punk rock sensibility in songs such as ‘Bully’ and ‘Start a Band’ alongside the folk sounds of ‘The Long Goodbye’ and ‘Slug Bug,’ the album is a wild ride from start to finish – tailor-made for those who relive the energetic angst of the early 1980s rock scene as well as that of the 90s and 2000s. Lyrically, ‘This Movie Sucks’ touches on universal themes such as prolonged grief, the toxic nature of internet culture, and remembering loved ones.
“Honestly, the process of making the new record has been a dream come true for us,” says Austin Durry. We have always recorded in basements and home studios whenever we could find the time and finances to do so. But for this record we were finally able to go into a real studio with a full body of work and churn out an entire album. It was a good feeling.”
