‘It’s a bit of a hysterical song trying to talk about love as I see it now,’ Jarvis Cocker reveals about the new single by Pulp, which looks set to become a live anthem straight away when the band kick off their tour.
A video directed by Jarvis Cocker was made to accompany the song, using footage from the iconic 1977 documentary Wigan Casino, directed by Tony Palmer. Interweaving images of Northern Soul dancers with Pulp’s music, the video emphasises the dance nature of “Got To Have Love”.
“I love dancing – and these are the best dance shots I’ve ever seen. I first saw them in Mark Leckey’s “Fiorucci Made Me Hardcore” video,” says Jarvis.
