Wet Leg – Cpr

After kicking off their tour with two gigs at London’s Brixton Academy and Radio 1’s Big Weekend, Wet Leg have released their new smash single “Cpr”.

The opening track from their second album moisturizer (due out 11 July), “Cpr” is one of many love tracks on the record, however, the refrain “Is it love, or suicide?” makes it clear that this isn’t exactly a Wet Leg tribute to Barry Manilow. Over a cheeky, sensual beat, Rhian Teasdale cynically and disillusionedly recounts his new relationship, before unleashing himself fully in the chorus.

Although previously Teasdale felt allergic to writing love songs, in moisturizer she ended up finding the process stimulating. This new awareness is reflected in the cover of moisturizer: a freak party in which Chambers and Teasdale sport long, macabre claws and Teasdale, who wears long, kitschy socks and has no eyebrows, smiles devilishly at the camera. The artwork perfectly mirrors the album: moisturizer is the band turning up the volume and delivering an album that is undoubtedly bolder, more powerful and brash.
