Shame – Quiet Life

Shame have released “Quiet Life” , a new excerpt from “Cutthroat” to be released on 5 September by Dead Oceans.

The new single is a growling “rockabilly” track in the style of Gun Club and Cramps. Of the track, singer Charlie Steen says: ““Quiet Life” is about someone who is in a shitty relationship. It’s about the judgement he receives and the struggle he faces, trying to understand the conflict he faces, wanting a better life… but being stuck.”

Shame’s new album was produced by John Congleton and the band’s five members – frontman Charlie Steen, guitarists Sean Coyle-Smith and Eddie Green, bassist Josh Finerty and drummer Charlie Forbes. The idea behind the new album was to start from scratch and create an album as powerful and fast-paced as the beginnings of 2018’s “Songs of Praise”. The new album is imbued with the typical Shame sense of humour and tackles contemporary issues with an ironic approach. Musically, the band experiments with a new approach: “This time, anything goes, as long as it sounds good and is done right,” says Charlie Steen.
