Sorry – Echoes

Multi-disciplinary group Sorry have announced their new album Cosplay which is set for release on November 7 via Domino. Cosplay meticulously erases and redraws the parameters that Sorry have set throughout their career. The band have shared new song “Echoes”, too.

Cosplay is the culmination of Sorry’s anything goes approach, a dizzying whirlwind of ideas, disguises and subterfuge distilled into the most thrilling and heartfelt album of their career. The album follows their 2022 record, Anywhere But Here and 2020’s debut album, 925. The band road tested the new material on their own recent UK headline tour and a support tour with Fontaines D.C. The overlapping worlds of Cosplay are the next logical step for Sorry, a band that has always defied that very notion. The group recorded the album with a number of collaborators across multiple studios, adding to the diverse feel of Cosplay.

“Echoes” is a key moment on the album, inspired by a poem about the story of a boy shouting echo into a tunnel waiting for his reply. Sorry then ran with this idea, and it became a song about losing yourself in love and “echo” becoming a third person in the middle. You can’t tell if it’s them or you. The hook is delivered like a mantra to live and die by, backed by some of the band’s most beautiful songwriting to date. It marks a clear progression for the band, with overlapping references coalescing into one succinct, poignant moment.
