Tom Skinner will release his new album ‘Kaleidoscopic Visions’ on September 26th via Brownswood and International Anthem, preceded by the title track.
Skinner is the drummer and co-founder of The Smile with Radiohead’s Thom Yorke and Johnny Greenwood,
as well as a former member of the cult jazz ensemble Sons of Kemet, now disbanded and led by Shabaka Hutchings.
‘Kaleidoscopic Visions’ is a visionary journey to the boundaries of jazz and psychedelia, recorded with vibrant collaborations from Meshell Ndegeocello, Adrian Utley of Portishead, Contour, and Yaffra. The first single and title track ‘Kaleidoscopic Visions’ is an intricate and beautifully crafted expression of the prismatic multitudes of Tom Skinner’s new work, where feather-light instrumental interplay and lush melodic flourishes are anchored by hypnotic rhythm section. The artist himself says: “Kaleidoscopic Visions was the first piece I wrote for my new work. Based on a piano improvisation, I set the tone for my approach and the sound I wanted to achieve in the creative process.”
