Oliver Sim is back with his new single ‘Obsession’, his first new track since 2022, the year of his acclaimed debut solo album Hideous Bastard. Produced by Bullion and Taylor Skye and recorded between London and Los Angeles.
The track marks a new phase of experimentation, collaboration and invention for the London-based musician, best known as one third of The xx. While Hideous Bastard tackled themes such as shame, fear and masculinity with radical honesty, “Obsession” offers a stylish, chic, irreverent and playful counterpoint.
Obsession is Sim’s first release not produced by his long-time friend, collaborator and bandmate Jamie xx. However, his connection with The xx remains as strong as ever: the trio are currently working on their highly anticipated fourth album and recently reunited on stage at Jamie’s LIDO festival in London. Beyond music, Sim continues to expand his creative universe. He was recently invited by Jonathan Anderson to feature in JW Anderson’s new ‘Resort’ lookbook, alongside Saltburn actress Alison Oliver, director Luca Guadagnino, actors Joe Alwyn and Ben Whishaw, stylist Danielle Goldberg, designer Bella Freud and photographer Gray Sorrenti.
