Nusantara Beat – Tamat

‘Tamat’ is the first single from Nusantara Beat’s debut album, released on November 14 by Glitterbeat, a blend of psychedelic folk, traditional Indonesian music, and contemporary grooves.

The word Nusantara is important. As the group’s singer, Megan de Klerk, explains: “Nusantara means archipelago, or all the islands that make up Indonesia. It is an ancient word that dates back to the time when kings wanted to unify the entire country. Even today, it means unity, many cultures merging into one. So when we say Nusantara Beat, we mean the rhythm and music of the Indonesian archipelago, mixed into a single sound.”

Over the past few years, Nusantara Beat have built a solid reputation thanks to their live performances and a series of singles that have been hugely successful among lovers of the contemporary psychedelic scene. The new album is a fascinating collection of eleven original tracks in which the band explores its Indonesian roots, interweaving hypnotic folk melodies, vintage indie-pop, pulsating psychedelic grooves, and contemporary sound textures.
