‘Lux’ is the fourth studio album by singer-songwriter and producer Rosalía. It is her most innovative release to date – a monumental work in both vision and execution.
The album was recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra and features female vocalists such as Björk, Carminho, Estrella Morente, Silvia Pérez Cruz, and the Escolania de Montserrat i Orfeó Català choir. In ‘Lux’, Rosalía explores themes related to feminine mystery, transformation, and spirituality, tracing a path through illusion and loss, faith and personal identity.
‘Berghain’ was the single that preceded the album. The song intertwines solemn orchestrations and dark electronica, creating an atmosphere somewhere between liturgy and nightclub. The vocals alternate like prayers and invocations, exploring the boundary between desire and redemption. The lyrics use the club as a metaphor for metamorphosis: there, one loses one’s name, and the body becomes ritual. Language changes as identity changes, shifting from whispered intimacy to sacred chorality.
