Santamarea – Zanzare

“Zanzare” is the new single by Santamarea, taken from Anime Storte, the band’s debut album. The track introduces some of the record’s central themes, focused on inner unrest and internal dialogue.

The song portrays an inner struggle made of recurring thoughts that keep resurfacing, like a swarm that is hard to push away. This tension takes shape through direct, repetitive writing, built around the invocation “get out of my mind.” Zanzare sits naturally within the framework of Anime Storte, a record that reflects on non-linear paths of growth and the acceptance of one’s own irregularities. The album title comes from the Sicilian word “tortu,” meaning “not straight,” and becomes a key to reading stories that move outside the norm. Musically, the record explores an alternative pop sound with a strong focus on lyrics, seeking a balance between sonic research and immediacy.

Santamarea were formed in Palermo and consist of siblings Stella, Francesco, and Michele Gelardi, alongside Noemi Orlando. The project is rooted in a shared background and close personal bond, which is reflected in both the songwriting and the arrangements. The band has developed a sound that blends alternative and pop elements, with particular attention to narrative-driven lyrics. Over the past few years, they have released several singles that helped shape their artistic identity, eventually leading to Anime Storte, their first full-length release.

This is pop? today’s song of the day is here for you.
