War Child Records has announced HELP(2), with Arctic Monkeys’ “Opening Night” as the first single from the album. The release marks a new chapter in War Child’s ongoing support for children affected by conflict.
Inspired by the 1995 album HELP, HELP(2) is a collaborative project recorded primarily during an intensive week in November 2025 at Abbey Road Studios, under the guidance of acclaimed producer James Ford. The sessions embraced spontaneity, with artists often working together in unexpected combinations, mirroring the urgency of today’s global humanitarian crises. The album brings together music from diverse genres, creating a powerful, unified statement while maintaining the spirit of the original release.
The compilation features a stellar lineup, including Arctic Monkeys, Anna Calvi, Arlo Parks, Beck, Damon Albarn, Olivia Rodrigo, and King Krule, among others. Oscar-winning director Jonathan Glazer served as Creative Director, collaborating with children who filmed both the studio sessions and conflict zones in Ukraine, Gaza, Yemen, and Sudan. This approach, combined with the artists’ improvisational contributions, ensures that HELP(2) is not only a musical achievement but also a profound reflection of the lives and voices of the children it aims to support.
