London trio Hot Face have shared their new single “Bumble Been,” the latest track from their forthcoming debut album Automated Response. The short, explosive garage-punk burst showcases the band’s feverish energy and uncompromising live approach.
Automated Response captures Hot Face performing live in one take at Abbey Road Studios, recorded straight to tape in front of an audience. Produced by Dan Carey, the album was conceived to bring the band’s chaotic live shows to record, preserving every raw edge and spontaneous moment. Following previous single “Pink Liquor,” “Bumble Been” delivers a 70-second assault of guitar and vocals, blending rebellious outcry with a whimsical nod to the plight of the bumblebee. With Carey manipulating the sound alongside the band, the album distills Hot Face’s garage-punk intensity and kinetic energy into a concise, high-octane listening experience.
Having evolved from bedroom recordings to one of the world’s most famous studios, Hot Face are committed to a live, immersive approach. Guitarist and vocalist James Bates describes the album as “a sonic freight train” that translates the raw power of their performances, whether in empty rooms or packed venues, directly to the listener. Their music thrives on immediacy, chaos, and connection, making Hot Face one of the most compelling new acts to emerge from London’s garage-punk scene.
